Lisa Rusca

Hello, I'm Lisa Rusca. I offer individuals, children (ages 13 and up), couples, and families an integrative, holistic research-based approach that incorporates a variety of therapeutic tools customized to each patient. I am not going to passively sit back and say "umm hmm." I am direct and will challenge your way of thinking in a way that does not leave you feeling judged. I consider the client to be the expert in their own life with the goal being to teach one how to be their own therapist.

The therapeutic process involves opening your mind towards changing what is not working and giving consideration for alternative perceptions/behaviors that may be healthier or make you feel happier. Your treatment plan will be created together and uniquely tailored to your individual needs and ideals. You will be able to gauge your progress over time, feel a sense of direction, and come away with an enriched toolbox of skills to combat anxiety, depression, conflict, and communication difficulties.

Depressed people tend to spend too much time in the past, whereas anxious people often spend too much time in the future. I offer insight into relaxation and mindfulness techniques that help people increase focus on the present, while balancing goals to seek closure from the past and plan for your future.

As a former social worker with Child Protective Services, I have significant experience working with children and families from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. I have worked extensively with survivors of trauma, neglect, and abuse. Misunderstood teens hold a special place in my heart, as well as the 20 something's feeling lost in a quarter life crisis. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who was born and raised in Fresno, Ca.

I am a Fresno State Alumnus with a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Pre M.B.A. (Pre Master's in Business Administration).

I have 2 Master’s degrees and graduated both with honors. I have an M.P.A. (Master's in Public Administration) from National University, Fresno. I have a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, San Francisco.

I hold dual licensure to practice in the state of California as a Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor.
