Hi! I’m Kristian Welz, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #20345). I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults, helping them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, behavioral difficulties, and substance use. I work from a person-centered approach and also incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused techniques, and reality therapy to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, build resilience, and achieve their goals.
I have a background in Criminal Justice and a passion for supporting individuals who are or have been involved with the criminal justice system. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, and sometimes all that is needed is someone to show support and care.
As a multicultural counselor, I draw on my own diverse background to understand how culture, ethnicity, and lived experiences can influence life’s challenges. I am passionate about providing inclusive, affirming care for all clients, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. As a believer in Jesus Christ, my faith is an important part of who I am. While I do not provide therapy from a biblical standpoint, I am open to integrating faith-based support for clients who desire it.
I strive to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy cooking, baking, scrapbooking, watching crime documentaries, and spending time with my family—activities that keep me grounded and fuel my dedication to helping others find hope, healing, and growth.
