Clinical Social Work Trainee

Lashell Solis

Earning my Masters in Social Work afforded me the opportunity to learn tools and strategies to help people through the deep trenches of life. Through my ongoing training, my theoretical orientation is integrative and trauma-informed, with a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I enjoy integrating influences from psychodynamic and somatic approaches. I meet individuals right where they are and adapt my approach based on their needs, readiness, and lived experiences.

From CBT, I pull in tools to help clients identify and challenge cognitive distortions, which I’ve found especially helpful for those navigating anxiety, depression, or substance use. DBT gives me a structured, skills-based framework — I often use it to help clients develop emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Additionally, I value psychodynamic and attachment-based work, particularly when clients are dealing with long-standing relational patterns, unresolved trauma, or shame. I look at how early experiences and attachment injuries might be showing up in the present, including how Adverse Childhood Experiences impact emotional and physical health.

I’m also drawn to trauma-focused and somatic approaches because they allow for healing beyond just insight, they tap into the nervous system and body, which is essential in trauma recovery. That’s especially important when working with clients who’ve experienced chronic stress, substance use disorders, or military-related trauma.

Overall, my goal is to create a culturally responsive, emotionally safe space where clients feel empowered, understood, and supported.
